Yes! You need to register an account on myunihostels to book.

It’s really easy: click on the Sign up link on the top of www.myunihostels.com. You can then register by syncing your any of your social media account shown or directly on MyUniHostels platform itself.

Signing up at MyUniHostels means that you will be able to:
1) save your own wishlist
2) having a profile with your bookings history and status;
3) add personal information to increase the chances to have a booking accepted;
4) add your preferences so that we can help you with greater efficiency.

Choosing from thousands of rooms and apartments available can be a hard job, which is why you filtering your search can make it easier.

The search filters you have immediately available to you on the search page are:

  • Budget : what’s the minimum and maximum you are willing to spend?
  • Rent type : are you looking for a whole apartment or just a room?
  • Facilities: are you looking for a place with fencing, constant power and water supply?
  • Proximity: are you looking for a place closer to the city centre or the University?

02. Getting Started For Student Tenants

MyUniHostels is an online marketplace for tertiary institution students across Nigeria to search, find and book an off-campus accommodation with thousands of verified properties across Nigeria.

At MyUniHostels, we are creating a trusted, faster, cheap and reliable brand for student accommodation in the country. Our dream is make finding off-campus accommodation easier than ever for students and bring the market to accommodation providers. We envision a situation where students feel safe when booking and we understand the value of trusted accommodation providers.

We are aware of the troubles most students pass through to find a place, while their studies suffer and how accommodation providers are in need of a platform that brings what they have to those who need it. This is where we come in. We are high to make it easier, faster and cheaper for students to find accommodation, while helping accommodation providers get in the face of students who need their accommodation.

You can sign up using your email address, or a social media account. Signing up and creating a myunihostels account is free.

After you sign up, be sure to complete your account before booking a reservation.

To find an off-campus accommodation, go to www.myunihostels.com and write down the city, university or the kind of accommodation that you want to live in on the search bar and click the Search button.

You can then filter your search by latest listing, budget, or according to specific criteria or use the map to search for accommodation by location. This will make finding a place that fits your taste and needs much quicker.

 

 

03. Student Account and Profile

Yes, your student account and profile is very safe with us at MyUniHostels. We are only asking for your details so that we can provide you with a smooth customer service and experience. We will not share your details with anyone for any reason without your approval. 04. Booking Off-campus Accommodation

Booking with MyUniHostels, means:

  • Your payments are encrypted to be extra-safe;
  • The team is available for you 7 days a week to answer all your questions;
  • Safety refund policy that will guarantee a full refund to you if the property you rent doesn’t match the listing you saw online exactly. See our refund policy in our terms and conditions.

 

If something unexpected comes up and you need to move-out earlier than you agreed you should contact your landlord immediately.

Please bear in mind that we may keep your bond and refund the landlord if a considerable degree of damage is confirm during your stay in the accommodation.

If an unexpected event happens to the property or its landlord, a booking might be cancelled. If this happens, you will be fully refunded, minus the service fee.

You’ll be notified immediately and MyUniHostels will make finding another amazing place for you its top priority.

You can cancel your booking if you have not signed the tenant agreement with the landlord and has not moved in, or following the landlord’s cancellation policy. If this happens, you will get your refund based on the prevailing cancellation policy associated to your booking.

Please, not that the commission and service fee are both non-refundable.

Once your booking is accepted you will receive a booking confirmation email with information about the booking as the move-in and move-out dates; rents to be paid and the landlord contacts.

You can then arrange your move-in details directly with your landlord.

We don’t do viewings at MyUniHostels: we think it’s time-consuming and will defeat our objective to be your eyes out there. This is one of the reasons we are here. You can look at several different apartments on our platform in the same amount of time that it takes to see a room.

It also not cost effective if you are travelling from a different city to the one where your University is located. The photographs you see here haven’t been photoshopped, so they’ll be really accurate.

If you’ve still got any doubts, we’ll keep the money that you transfer with us until 24h after your move-in date. If something’s not exactly what you saw online, we’ll help you move somewhere else and/or return your money.

05. Making Payments

When booking with MyUniHostels, you only have to perform the following payments:

  • service fee;
  • Rent for the period covered;
  • bond deposit – if applicable.

All payments are made in the first instance to MyUniHostels. We will send the rent bill to the landlord as soon as your booking is confirmed by the landlord. We hold back your bond until when you are ready to move out of the accommodation. Read refund policy to understand how the bond works.

You can make payment online using any of the payment portals provided on our website or choose to make a transfer to the bank details that would be provided to you. Note that until payment is confirmed, there is no guarantee that your booking would be confirmed.

The service fee is a fee charged by MyUniHostels when you make a booking request.

It’s a one-time payment that covers for all the costs that we had handling your booking. This amount isn’t a fixed value and is calculated based on the rent’s payment.

The bond deposit is the amount you have to pay along with the rent fee before moving in, directly to MyUniHostels on behalf of the landlord, to cover for any potential damages that may occur during your stay. Note that all landlords may not require this deposit as it varies from one landlord to another.
If no damages occur, and you leave on the agreed move-out date, the deposit should be refunded in a way you both agree on in the tenancy contract.

The information about the deposit is stated in the listing and in the booking request and confirmation emails.

06. Reviews

Yes, you are free to leave a review of your experience with any of the listed property but it must be one that you have personally lived in previously and was booked through us. Every review will be reviewed before publishing.

08. Listing With MyUniHostels for Landlords

Yes, listing an off-campus hostel accommodation on our website is completely free. We only charge a commission rate of 2.5% of the rate for each booking made through our website.

Yes, you can add as many off-campus hostels as you like, as long as you have the correct information and permission to add the hostels.

You can send an email to support@myunihostels.com with information about the hostel. Our support team will contact you a short while afterwards.

09. Manage My Listings

Our model takes the pain and trouble from you so you do not have to worry much. If there are any changes to your listing, all you need to do is to reach us at +234 906 114 0483​⁠​ or send us an email at support@myunihostels.com.

 

10. Manage My Bookings

MyUniHostels’ landlords can choose one of 4 different types of cancellation policies:

Soft

  • You can cancel up to 30 days before the contract start day and you’ll be refunded the 100% of the 1st Rent Payment, but not the service fee.
  • If you cancel between 15 and 30 days before the contract start date, you are refunded 50% of the 1st Rent Payment.
  • If you cancel less than 15 days before the contract start date, you can’t be refunded anything.

Moderate

  • You can cancel up to 60 days before the contract start day and you’ll be refunded the 100% of the 1st Rent Payment entirely, but not the service fee.
  • You can cancel up to 30 days before the contract start date, and you’ll be refunded 50% of the 1st Rent Payment.
  • If you cancel less than 30 days before the contract start date, you can’t be refunded anything.

 

Rigid

  • You can cancel up to 90 days before the contract start day and you’ll be refunded 100% of the 1st Rent Payment, but not the service fee.
  • If you cancel between 30 and 90 days before the contract start date, you’ll be refunded 50% of the 1st Rent Payment.
  • If you cancel less than 30 days before the contract start date, you can’t be refunded anything.

Super Rigid

  • This means that no cancelled booking every gets a refund.

11. Payments (Landlords)

All landlords with listed properties at MyUniHostels are required to provide their account details when signing up with our company. After a booking has been confirmed by the landlord, a transfer will be made based on the agreement between the landlord and the student tenant accordingly. This transfer will be done with 24 hours of such confirmation.
